4GB on Paper with a normal plugin set. Vanilla stretches further; modpacks need 8GB regardless of player count.
8GB floor for current packs — ATM9, RLCraft, Pixelmon. 400+ mod packs may want 10GB+.
Only until RAM stops being the bottleneck — past ~12-16GB it's usually CPU single-thread or plugin efficiency.
